Alex von Furstenberg, who is the current chief investment officer and co-managing member of Arrow Capital Management LLC, is the son of Prince Egon and Diane von Furstenberg, a renowned fashion designer and the woman behind the invention of the wrap dress in the 1970s. His mother, after filing for a divorce, married Barry Diller, the chief executive officer of USA Networks, who is now his stepfather.
He grew up in New York with his mother and sister Tatiana von Furstenberg, studying at Allen Stevenson and Brooks School. Later on, he attended Brown University and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts. There, he met his first wife, Alexandra von Furstenberg (Alexandra Natasha Miller).
Alex von Furstenberg moved to an apartment in the Carlyle Hotel. He first worked for Allen and Company’s Risk Arbitrage Desk as a trader the same year he graduated from college. Then, together with Prince Pavlos of Greece, he became an associate at the hedge fund business Griphon Capital. However, he exited from the company to be part of Arrow Investment, his stepfather’s investment vehicle, and function as its chief investment officer since 2001.
Aside from this, he is currently the chief investment officer and co-managing member of Arrow Capital Management LLC, a private investment business that focuses on global public equities.
